Gareth Southgate is an English professional football manager and former player who played as a defender and midfielder. He has been manager of the England national football team since 2016, leading them to the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the final of the UEFA Euro 2020.
As a player, Southgate made 57 appearances for England and was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 1996 European Championship. He also played for Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, and Manchester United.
